Operation International Children

It should come as no surprise that I am a big Gary Sinise fan. You know the stereotypical Hollywood actor who thinks only of himself and whines about how tough life is?

That’s not him.

Mr. Sinise has to be one of the busiest guys in the business. Movies, television shows, radio interviews, music…he seems to have an endless supply of energy. And there is no better friend of the American warfighter anywhere. He seems to be the road nonstop, visiting wounded troops at military hospitals, front line troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and volunteering for organizations who support the troops.

He has turned time management into an art form.

Not long ago he and author Laura Hillenbrand co-founded yet another organization, this one called “Operation Iraqi Children” to provide supplies, toys and equipment to the children suffering in that war-torn country. OIC sends the supplies to the military so the troops can distribute them to the people of Iraq. Nation building one child at a time.

Great idea and great initiative.

Now that the war is winding down, so must OIC, right?

Did I mention this is Gary Sinise?

OIC now stands for Operation International Children. As the website states, “While we remain committed to our work in Iraq, OIC has expanded its mission, sending school supplies to Afghanistan and other nations, where American troops are distributing them to children in need. In the future, we will continue to broaden our efforts across the world.”

Nice job, Lt. Dan.
