A prisoner’s conviction for mailing a threatening letter to a judge was upheld – the man had said no one had shown any evidence that he had mailed it. The letter was sent in an envelope containing his name, prisoner number and return address. (Yahoo/AP)

Ray of hope – one of my old shipmates sent me this emotion-evoking photo. In the words of his email: I seldom pass along inspirational stuff, but this one got to me. I believe, in these difficult and mean-spirited times in which we live, there needs to be a message of hope. We can all use a single image that speaks to us of love, harmony, peace, and joy.
