The NFL and the military have been good friends for years, but you have to admire what the USO set up for this year’s Super Bowl. During Super Bowl weekend, the USO sponsored several parties for the troops – often putting military members and profesisonal football players together.
In Washington, D.C., the USO sponsored a party for 250 wounded warriors from Walter Reed, attended by NFL referees and cheerleaders from the Washington Redskins and Baltimore Ravens.
At the new USO Warrior Facility at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, troops were not only able to watch the Super Bowl on big screen TVs, but were also treated to a pre-Super Bowl party, complete with teleconferences with pro football players back in the states.
NFL players toured with the USO around the world to visit military members during the weekend, hitting bases in Korea, Okinawa, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Hungary, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Macedonia.
And everywhere, the USO sponsored parties so that Sailors, Airmen, Soldiers, Marines, and Coastguardsmen could relax with their buddies and watch the game.
The USO is doing great things out there. If you would like to support their efforts on behalf of our troops, you can do that online by clicking here.
