Bob, a Marine Corps veteran, sent me a link to a story about a real hero. He served in WWII and was shot down, evaded capture by the Japanese, finished the war and returned home. But his heroics only started there. His real story began years later. His name was Fred Hargesheimer, and his efforts improved the lives of an entire population. You can read his story here. Fred died two days before Christmas at the age of 94. To say he lived his life to the fullest would be an understatement. He is our hero of the week.
