Global Forces For Good

I read two remarkable articles this week about rescues at sea. One involved the U.S. Navy and the other the U.S. Coast Guard.

Despite rising tensions in the region, crewmembers from USS KIDD (DDG 100) boarded an Iranian fishing vessel in the Arabian Sea, rescuing thirteen Iranian fishermen from the hands of fifteen Somali pirates. (Complete article here.)

Then two days ago the crew of USS MONOMOY (WPB 1326) rescued the crew of the Iranian dhow Ya-Hussayn when the vessel’s engine room flooded. (Read the complete article here.)

According to a Navy statement, the owner of the vessel said that, “…without the Americans’ help, they would be dead.” (Voice of America)

A global force for good. Semper Paratus.
