Look, I’m a cartoonist. I exist to make people happy and that includes my doctor. But sometimes I’m just not sure what scratches his itch.
The last time I saw him, after accusing him of having a broken scale, I asked him what he recommended to control weight and blood sugar.
He told me, “Stay away from anything that tastes good.” Since that was impossible, I decided to cut down on carbs, meaning I ate a lot of meat.
This year I was back for my annual physical.
I was lighter and the blood sugar looked great.
But my cholesterol had gone up because of eating all that meat. I asked him what I needed to do to get the cholesterol down, and he said, “Stay away from anything that tastes good.”
I wish he would make up his mind.
